Hope for Change!

Slowly but surely I'm getting my bearings after five days in the hospital with pnuemonia.  Its been almost 3 years (I think) or at least long enough for me to stop counting the months from the last time I was that sick.  Five days of bad tv for the most part.  The Iowa caucus lead-ins kept me entertained the best in spite of the glitz and glam of CNN style reporting that I find over done and extreme.  It was Michelle Obama's presentation that I enjoyed the most! That sistah is fierce!  Not in an in-your-face type way but she exuded strength and clarity and love in her spirit and persona that gave me confidence to support her husband for Presidency.  Plus while listening to her I started communing with Sojourner Truth and Ida B. Wells and they approved so that was good enough for me.

Early this morning I listened to the victory speech and thought "my lord, what am I witnessing here?!!!"  I'm wondering if the power in this man has less to do with addressing the horrid world political affairs (how can we NOT live with the current consequences beyond just another President?) and more to do with mental and emotional restoration.  I mean, I know I've experienced some post-trauma, especially behind the 2004 elections that I've never been able to recover completely from.

  1. In 2004 I watched Senator Obama's keynote speech at the last Democratic convention and I turned to my Dad and pronounced "He is going to be the next President of the United States". Since then I have come to know his wife through the media and I am even more certain they are the team for the job. Fierce indeed.

  3. First, I am glad you are doing better, spending five days in the hospital is no fun.
Second, I couldn't agree more about Sen. Obama. I read his first book long before he declared his candidacy, and was very impressed by his candor and wealth of life experiences which I believe could be put to good use in repairing our reputation and position in the world and within our own citizenry. I pray the rest of the country sees what we do, and that we do not destroy him. But he is my choice for president, hands down no contest. (And yes, you are right, Michelle Obama has CLASS!!)

  6. 5 whole days! I feel for you, poor baby. But if you're that sick, hopefully it's the best place to start back on the recovery path. I hope you taking it one step at a time. Feel better. I agree also about Sen. Obama, he's got my vote.

  10. I am so very sorry that you were knocked off your pins, so to speak, for such a long time. Hope and pray that you are well on the way to good health, for without that EVERYTHING else is nearly impossible.
Remember to take time to really nurture yourself as you heal and beyond that time.
On the Obamas,am rejoicing, that I'm seeing what I'm seeing. It's almost too good to be true. And still, and yet...I
worry for them as I pray for their success. We ARE talking the President of these United States.
    Stay well,
    Shirley

  11. Hey girlfriend, glad you are better.Take care until you are firing on all cylinders again. Finally, someone to vote for that inspires instead of just parroting a party line...plus you gotta love a man who can actually speak the language.
