silk and wool roving?????

I'm interested in trying to make silk fusion and felted beads and am now informed BUT confused ;) from reading about it at different websites.  Is it correct that silk rovings and a medium make up the ingredients for silk fusion???? AND that wool rovings are what I need to make felted beads??? Is it possible to do wool fusion the same as with silk rovings and can I make silk beads in the same manner that I make wool felted ones????

More than likely, I'm trying to squeeze too many techniques to try into 4 days that I have coming up in June to do nothing but play non-stop but I just want to get as much leverage as possible from the time.

Thanks for any input and direction.

  2. I know... my comment above makes no sense. I was asking why you were writing at 3 am. Thought I was appending the comment.. instead I edited it to make no sense.
I'm hoping someone answers your question, because I have thought the same thing.

  3. Hi Karoda,
I'm by no means an expert in this, but with wool it felts on its own with the help of water and soap, but silk needs something to bind it together. This has got a lot of links if you scroll down to the bottom of the page: http://www.winghamwoolwork.co.uk/ (for wool).
If you get cocoon strippings (I think it is) it still has the gum in from the cocoon so you can just stretch it out and spray it with water and iron it under baking parchment and it makes silk paper (or silk fusion I think you call it in the US). If you need a medium, Dale Rollerson of The Thread Studio in Australia uses 50 percent fabric medium (I think the make she uses is called Jo Sonya but there is also one called Ormoline fabric medium). Try this link: http://www.treenwaysilks.com/inout_fusion.html
    Hope this helps!
