Winter Is Not My Friend

Ahhhh %4&@#! it done turned cold!!!!!!!!! (spoken in street-wise intonation).  Counting my blessings that I don't have to stand on a street corner and wait for buses!!!!  I'm sorry if you love this weather but you must know that (to quote myself) "winter is not my friend".  Yesterday I popped out of bed and kept my focus on what needed to be done before leaving...but I tell ya! once I hit that cold weather I was done.  Its gets inside of me and its like I can never get it out.  My body hurts, my mind gets slow...so, by the time I arrived at my workshop I couldn't think straight...the cold winds (known as the hawk) for the brief times I was in and out of the car, flew off with my focus.

Once there, I re-arranged some tables that was feng-shit and then I had to arrange them back to the original layout to get a better shui going on.  After that I quilted in circles on a quilt which helped me some to focus and concentrate with a little bit of clarity.  After 3 hours I called it a day and returned home to a hot meal waiting thanks to the slow cooker and settled down with my family.

Peter has a some years before he can retire, (God willing and the creek don't rise) I hope we can get outta here to a more warmer climate.  And I'm going to try not to bitch, moan, and complain about the cold weather here at Seamless Skin...its a noble aspirations but I'm warning you, don't nail me down to it.  And if I read on your blog how much you love this weather, know that I'll just roll my eyes and try not to leave a snarky comment.

  1. I have a hard time with the bitter winter cold. So far we have had very mild weather.

  2. I hate winter and I hate it even more when there is snow and ice on the ground. Happily, I'll be in Florida teaching in Jan and I can escape for 3 wks, anyway. Today was our first day for winter coats - a freeze predicted for tonight - but it has been a lovely, warm fall up till now. I suspect we'll pay dearly for it.
Stay warm, Karoda, and complain all you want!

  3. You know, it's funny, but sometimes I think that I can actually steel myself into being strong when it is cold, but the older I get the more I really hate the cold! It is colder than normal here in Georgia this year...perhaps it is God's wrath on a Red State? LOL Anyway, for whatever reason, I am not liking it ONE BIT and I can relate to your unhappiness.
Bundle yourself up and stay warm........and think of warmer weather to come.

  4. I am so with you on the cold weather. We moved to NJ 7 yrs ago and our first winter there we had 27" of snow in one day! We moved back to NC 4 yrs later cause I had had enough (still love Jersey though). I know me and the cold don't work any more.....I'm a tropical woman at heart.
I'm with Judy, bundle up and stay real warm.

  6. family is coming to town from florida and i told them they better bring their heaviest coat they have. it is freezing in DC. no snow yet, but it feels like it wants too. my husbands family better be some warm blooded people, because i am not pull down any additional quilts for anyone to use. my art quilts are art quilts not for personal use. my husband says the house is to hot and i say it is to cold. we will see what they say, while my knees are killing me and i stay cold all bundle up in the quilts they are to use if they are cold.
    have a great thanksgiving

  7. You can bellyache all you like, I am with you on the cold. We have had a lovely warm fall, but I know winter is just around the corner. There's snow on the mountains, even a skiff on the ones just next to us. I'm with you, it's Florida for me when I can retire. Nice that my son and his wife live there!

  8. well we have already bonded over winter-time blues. I have a local friend who "loves this weather" and sometimes it gets quite taxing. We will go on a woods walk in the spring or early summer and she will bring me down so bad because she always likes to enthuse "wouldn't this be even more beautiful in winter?"
no. not it wouldn't. NOT AT ALL...
